I love this ideas, I'm part of a steampunk group in my town and I know they'd get a kick out of seeing these, so I'm gonna have to show them. You captured the idea of steampunk very well, most people seem to think it's all about girls dressed in skimpy skirts and corsets but it's so much more than that! I love these ideas immensely, they have given me the inspiration I need at this present point in time!
Thanks for the awesome words. I find it challenging to get the right balance with steampunk in designs. It seems some people can get bogged down by adding certain detail to make something "steampunk" and it really doesn't capture that true steampunk look and feel. Of course others seem to nail it!
A lot of people tend to think along the lines of "Stick a cog on it and call it steampunk". They don't realise that while steampunk has a huge base to draw from (Victorian, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, History, Futuristic Dystopia) there are certain things that won't and don't fit. The base of it is all the same though, Steam power, Clockwork and Aether replace electricity and fossil fuels, things are still elegantly designed and nothings made to throw-away. At least, that the philosophy that my steampunk group operates under and other steampunkers tend to agree, though I've meet a few who haven't. Still, it's not about being right or wrong, it's about embracing the nature of Steam and being your self.
